What is your purpose in life?

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Matthew 28:17-20

Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.
Mark 16:15

I don’t know about you but Jesus words seem pretty clear. He states that all authority has been given to him in giving us these commands. Yes I said commands and yes that includes you. Nowhere in the bible (which is our highest authority) does it say that only some are commanded or called to preach to Gospel to all nations. Jesus commanded all of us to be preachers of the Gospel.

Somewhere, someone told you that you had a choice or that you had to be called to missions. Missions are not a calling, missions are what we were put here for. We are here for one reason and that is to preach the Gospel and make disciples. Someone convinced you that you were “called” to something else. Friend you have been lied to, you have been led astray. You have been commanded to be a preacher of the Gospel. The only thing that is stopping you from living out the command and calling God has on your life is you making the decision to respond to what he commanded you to do. Jesus wasn’t joking or giving us a choice.

I know….. you still think your not called. Thats for someone else right? Your called to preach in your city right? I mean come on other countries are sending missionaries to the United States….. we have work to do in our own cities before we go to the nations right? When was the last time you shared the Gospel with someone? When was the last time you told someone that without Jesus they are going to hell? When was the last time you told someone that Jesus was the son of God, that he was crucified on a cross for their sins? That Jesus was buried and 3 days layer rose from the dead? That there is no way to heaven but through him?

I forgot the career you chose or the career you feel God has called you doesn’t exist outside of the US. Where in the scriptures does it say anything about you being called to a certain job or profession? Sorry friend you wont find it. A job is just a means of his grace so that you can provide for yourself and your family while you are preaching the Gospel. There it is….the loop hole. You have a family. Take them with you! You want to raise children who love Jesus and give their lives fully to him? Set the example as a parent and respond to what Jesus did for you and give your life to preaching the Gospel. You weren’t called to be a father or mother and you weren’t called to a certain job. You weren’t called to be a nice person and somehow through you being nice they will see something different about you, then you will get to tell them about Jesus. You were commanded to preach the Gospel boldly. You are called to be a missionary and preach the Gospel. Take God at his word, trust the one who saved you, trust the one who is in you.

Our world is broken, it is lost, it is full of sin and it doesn’t look like it is getting any better. However there is hope! There is hope in the one who called us, hope in the one who saved us, hope in the one who is sending us out…..Jesus is the answer! Preaching the gospel is the only way to change the world. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:14-15

This quote I heard a while back that rocked my world and I still can’t shake it….. few things reveal where your heart really is concerning Jesus as to how much you will open your mouth about him…..Matt Chandler

These are some tough words but they are out of love from deep inside of my heart. I don’t share these words to condemn you but to encourage you. These words aren’t my own but the words the Lord has been speaking to me over and over again during the last 12 months. I ran from them because they require something of me. Now that I know and understand them i’m accountable to them. To reject the commands of Jesus and call on my life is to say that I have a better plan…..that what I want in this life is more important than what he created me for. Jesus I love you and want to fully give my life to you!
